"Alcoholica Lives On!"

Jeff reviews the Philly show

"Hot, Sweaty and Drunk in Philly"

After eating some very delicious brisket and pounding some cold beers at Jimbo's Bar & Grill the friday before the show, Jimbo, Carolyn and myself left for Veteran's Stadium the next day. Traffic was hell and what should of been a 2.5 hour drive turned out to be a 4 hr drive. To help pass the time, I decided to get my drink on. We eventually pulled up to Veteran's Stadium around 2:30. We didn't see any other fuelers that were there yet, so we pounded some more beers, grabbed a bite to eat and headed to the show around 3:30. As we walked to the entrance, we noticed some fans gathered around yelling and cheering. We figured it was a just a local radio station doing a promotional thing. Well, it turned out that Metallica, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park were doing a live report for a MTV Summer Sanitarium special (see MetOnTour.com for pictures and video). Shit! Oh well, maybe next time!

I got to help out at the MetClub booth with George doing various club stuff like - stamp metclubbers' hands for entrance to the very popular Club Sanitarium, drink some beer, answer questions like "Can I join right now and go backstage?", etc. I didn;t really mind because the opening acts didn't really interest me. One of the more funnier things that happened to us was that We got hasseled by two Romanian metfans about being treated unfairly on their trip to America...oh well. They demanded to speak to whoever was in charge of us. It was funny at the beginning, but it soon became annoying. And since I was full of alcoholic beverages, I was about to introduce Mr. Romania to 265 lbs of American rage, but alas, the Romanians made a valiant effort to appease me by buying me two beers which I gladly accepted. I agreed that when my supervisor returned, I would let him know. Little did he know, that Toby, Niclas and Eric came to the booth and walked right by him. Another funny moment was when a woman came up to the booth and asked where Eric Nielsen was. I was thinking to myself, "Damn, Eric must be the Ladies' Man." Turns out it was his cousin...whoops...sorry Eric. :0

Let me see your war face!

Nice banner, dude!

When Toby came back to close up the Metclub booth, he told George and I that we would see the show from somewhere special. Toby escorted us (George, Ron Clark (aka SuperMetFan), and me) to the VIPoser area on left side of the stage. What a great place to see the show from! What surprised me was that there wasn't that many people in the VIPoser area. Usually in a big city like Philadelphia, there would be tons of VIPs. I did see some guys that had to be Philadelphia Eagle players, and of course, there was the usual scantily clad women, which made for some good eye candy.

George gives the "thumbs up" to our eye candy

As for the show, well it fuckin rocked! No need to go over the setlist because everyone knows it by now. The energy that James, Kirk and Rob give off when they are standing 2 feet in front of you is incredible! George, Ron and I seemed to be the only "real" fans in the VIPoser area. The entire show we were going crazy, singing along to every word, pumping our fists in the air, banging our heads, etc. We must of been noticed by at least Rob, because after the show when the Boyz were handing out picks, he came over to us and said, "You guys fucking rocked!" Right back at you, Rob!

Give me a stick, drummer boy!
