George recaps the Uniondale show Nassau Coliseum @ Uniondale, NY - 1/29/09 Traveling from Chicago to Newark sucked. My flight schedule involved flying from Chicago to Pittsburgh and then on to Newark. I ended up getting stuck on a grounded plane in Pittsburgh for 4 hours. By the time a got to Newark I had a raging migraine. To quote Sergeant Roger Murtaugh, "I'm getting too old for this." (Okay, maybe not.) After a detour through Harlem to pick up Lauren, which was followed by being harassed by a cop, who ended up being a NJ cop (go harass somebody within your jurisdiction!), we eventually made our way to Nassau Coliseum. We met up with some of the And Jersey for All folks, and we waited. We waited for the early entry. We waited through The Sword (except for Blou, of course, who strangely enjoys them). We waited through Machine Head. I always enjoy the NY/NJ crowds, so I knew this was going to be a good show. We were treated to another solid performance, a good crowd, AND they played "Phantom Lord," which was an awesome surprise. The only drawback of the night was the Larry the Cable Guy look-alike who was trying to weasel his way in on the rail where Lauren was at. Oh yeah, and I also showed up in the New York Times on page A-3 in a pic from this show. (I think they just like to pick out the ugliest guy at the show.)
