 Eric's apartment - June 1998 (from left to right) Jimbo, Me, Gerben, Wiigy, Elvis I met Elvis during the Summer 1998 tour, during which he and Gerben "Big" Kok were following the tour together. Robert's friendly and generous spirit were immediately evident -- you couldn't help but like the guy. His dedication to Metallica was inspirational as well. I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with him, but I'll never forget him. I've been accused of being an e-mail pack rat. Maybe it's true; I just found and read a few e-mails from Robert (some from 1998), and his fun nature showed in his words. Those e-mails led me to recall his annoyance with (distaste for?) American fast food. I saw it firsthand at a Taco Bell in Virginia Beach, where he was quick to point out that even looking at the menu made his eyes hurt... funny guy.
He is sorely missed. |
